Open Monuments Day H.H. Marcellinus and Petrus Church

During Open Monuments Day, experience the centuries-old soul of Oud-Geleen in the church of St Marcellinus and St Petrus and enjoy the unique opportunity to visit the sacristy and descend into the cellar, where the foundations of the old seventeenth-century church can still be seen. Volunteers are on hand to tell you more! A small church stood on this spot before the year 1000. The imposing marlstone tower from 1504 – the oldest monument in Geleen – has watched over the village for more than five centuries.
